Game Preview: Shiner St. Paul Cardinals at San Marcos Baptist Academy Bears

St. Paul will play at San Marcos Academy to conclude the regular season.

"It's an important game because we are coming off the bye week and want to build on things we've been doing lately. We also want to play a good game going into the playoffs," St. Paul head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.

San Marcos Academy is a traditional spread offense with drop-back pass plays, options, zone read, etc.

"We have to make sure we are correctly aligned and that we don't allow them to get a big play. We have to force them to drive the field," Wachsmuth said.

Quarterback Ethan Schlittler had completed 42-of-114 passing for 444 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions and has 447 yards on 92 carries and two touchdowns. Logan McKinney had 337 yards on 47 attempts. Andrew Shaw has 271 yards receiving on 22 catches.

On defense, the Bears will lineup in an eight-man front or a seven-man front, which is similar to what St. Paul does. Hector Correa leads the Bears with 65 total tackles.

Wachsmuth said he would like to see St. Paul's offense have no turnovers in the game.
