St. Paul Cardinals at Schertz John Paul II Guardians
The Cardinals are back on the road at Schertz John Paul II on Friday (tomorrow October 13, 2017 ).
The 2016 game between the Cardinals and Guardians ended 12-8, and St. Paul is anticipating a similar match up.
“We are expecting a good game and a hard fight,” Cardinals head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.
On offense, the Guardians will line up in the shotgun most of the time but deploy a running scheme with power and lead plays.
Wachsmuth said St. Paul defense will need to be consistent.
“We had some breakdowns in our last game and we need to eliminate those,” he said.
John Paul II runs a 4-3 defense, somewhat similar to the Cardinals.
“They have good defensive lineman and linebackers, and their secondary is new,” Wachsmuth said. “We had lots of penalties on offense and some of those were drive killers and we need to eliminate them. We still played well in our last game.”
