This week, the Shiner Comanches return home to face Burton in Homecoming for the first of two games at Comanche Stadium. Shiner St. Paul starts a two-week road trip, commencing with Austin Saints. Both contests will kick off tomorrow ( Friday, September 14, 2018 ) at 7:30 p.m.
St. Paul Cardinals @ Austin Saints
St. Paul will head to Austin to play the Austin Saints which is a combined football team for players of St. Andrews Episcopal and St. Stephens Episcopal.
St. Paul will be seeing another spread team just like last week against Victoria St. Joseph.
“They will mix up the run and the pass. They have good skilled players and good linesmen,” Cardinals head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.
The St. Paul defense, while not playing completely error free against St. Joseph, did do very well and will look to do the same. It will be crucial for St. Paul to focus on preventing big plays.
The Saints offense will be led by athlete Thompson Renner, lineman Jackson Owens, running back Timothy Bridgeman, athlete Sean Fresch and quarterback George Breckwoldt.
The Saints defense will line up in an eight-man front. Wachsmuth said solid execution, ball security and not missing assignments will allow the offense to continue to move forward.
