St. Paul got some late-game heroics from quarterback Devin Pesek in a 37-31 home win over Pettus to open the season on Friday.
Pesek's late TD pass was his fourth of the game, as he had time to find receivers all game.
He completed 15-of-25 passes for 221 yards and the four scores, and he did it while using seven different receivers.
His favorite target on Friday night was Brandon Sciba, who he found six times for 96 yards and a touchdown.
The other six receivers caught one or two passes each.
The balanced Cardinal offense also got nearly 200 yards on the ground, 106 of which came from Adam Hollenbach.
Hollenbach finished with 154 total yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.
